Real Life, and a Dreadtober update

Hey all. You may have noticed a distinct lack of posting over the last few weeks or so, and there is a very good reason for it.......Real life!

We (my fiancĂ© and I) had been thinking about moving house for over a year now, but various factors had prevented us from doing so, from £ to time, and not being able to find somewhere we liked, and was suitable for all the family. Well all of a sudden we found a place, and within a month were moving out of our old house and into the new. As many of you know, moving house is a bitch. It is amazing the amount of stuff that accumalates over the years, and having to sort and box all of it was bloody awful. Fotunately we got through it and are now into the new house, surrounded by boxes again which need unpacking and sorting out. Unfortunately I also have to do some work on the old house to get it ready for the next tenants, so most of my evenings have been spent filling, sanding and painting. There is a light at the end of the tunnel however. This eve I managed to finish the last of the big jobs, and now only need to do a few little touch up jobs and all will be finished.

In anticipation of more free time I also set up my hobby desk during the week (I even found the time to sort my paints into colour rows. Got to be done ;) ). For a few minutes each evening I have been doing a small amount of hobby, getting my dreadnought prepped for my dreadtober challenge. I am using a Betrayal at Calth Contemptor, which I am re-posing and turning into a dakka dread, magnetising both the arms so I can run multiple weapon options. So far I have sawed the head off, cut both legs at the joints, and then the top thigh on the right leg, which I will then reposition and greenstuff. The joints and waist will have plasticard rods inserted so I can play with the movement of the torso and legs and make the awful stock pose of the contemptor much more dynamic. I will take more wip photos as I progress, amd start getting some posts up on da blog again. Still loads to do but it is good to be back!

Also now my internet is connected I can catch up on all the regular blogs I read and the hobby goodness you have all been churning out in my absence :)

See you soon.

    1. Cheers Rory. Still loads to do but the most stressful parts are out the way now so I can get a little time to relax in the eve again.
Got a lot to do for the dread too but I am really looking forward to working on getting it all converted and painted

    1. I hope so. The re-positioning will be the trickiest part, but once that is done it is all plain sailing from there :D

    1. Hehe yeah. My missus made me buy it when my son was born. He knicked my hobby room so my desk migrated into our bedroom - hence the crotch guard :D
