DZC - Scourge Oppressor

Scourge Oppressor

Howdy hey folks. I have been pretty consistent with my painting recently, managing at least 20mins a day of hobby time to work on the painting goals I posted about in January. I am pleased to say I have made good progress, finishing the Scourge Oppressor and I have nearly completed Izamu.

It took me nearly 6 months to get this badboy finished, as I could just not get the motivation to get him past the basecoating stage. Luckily once I committed myself to get it finished for the end of Jan I gave my hobby mojo a good whipping, chained the paintbrush to my reluctant fingers and managed to get him completed in no time (well, a couple of weeks ;) ).

I am really happy with how the scheme came out on him. The drybrushing and washes scaled up pretty well on a bigger model, not looking too hamfisted in application fortunately :). The red stripes were a late addition as he was looking a little plain. Luckily it works and marks him out from the pack as a commander model. The round bits at the top are magnets so that he can be attached to his transport ship. I have done this with most of my Scourge models as it just looks cool :)

  1. That is one gorgeous paintjob! Not got into dropzone myself, but that's definitely enticing!

    1. Ta very much :)

It is one of the best games I play. Very balanced and every game is a nail biter. The minis are a real pleasure to paint too. I highly recommend it if you can get a few at your club interested

  2. Agreed with Nick, here. I love how you've used washes to break out sections and draw attention to the shapes. Looks very creepy biomechanical, like a weird sea creature turned into a spaceship.

    1. Thanks Jeff. The compliment is much appreciated. Once I got going on him it was fun, just had to get the old mojo cranked up a bit. I do like the Scourge aesthetic of bio-mechanical so I am pleased my paint scheme is complementing this :)

  4. Brilliant work. What size magnets did you use to attach the Oppressor to the flying stand?

    Thanks, James

    1. Hey thanks James :)

I used 10x1mm magnets for the flying stand. I did try the smaller 3x2 that has been recommended to me before but they did not do the trick at all for such a large model (in dzc terms). You could prob go 8x1mm and still hold it on just fine.
