Space Wolves Stormwolf Gunship Ready To Fly Off The Table

I'm going to start this post by saying I really didn't like the look of the Stormfang/Stormwolf flyer when it was released. It wasn't until I actually saw it in the plastic on a recent trip to Warhammer World that the model really appealed to me. It really does look a lot better than the photos in White Dwarf give it credit for.

I later purchased two of the models from my FLGS and have built and painted the first to join my Ragnar Blackmane's Great Company, after all Ragnar needs something to assault out of right...

The model goes together really well, I'd recommend building it and painting it in sub assemblies, i separated the cockpit, engines, turret, sponsons and wolfy decorations.  I made sure I painted the pilot and cockpit as it's a pet hate of mine when I see ships with the canopy painted over, it just seems to take so much away from the finished model.

For the second of the flyers i just can't decide whether to build another Stormwolf or build a Stormfang, any strong arguments either way?

Finally i also managed to finished my Inquisitor Coteaz model, which is the first painted for my new Tempestus Scions army to partner with Hawkshroud Imperial Knights.  Hopefully i'll have some progress to show for that very soon. The huge pile of plastic is on my desk i just need to get building!

  1. Looks great dude. I need to get me one now :). Maybe if we see the santa sleigh in the flesh we will end up liking that too :(). Build it as the heavy one I think. The net says the transport one is much better but you can always proxy between the two when needed. Alternatively I can give a go at magnetising it for you

  2. I built a Stormfang, and I wish I had made the transport. I don't mean to downplay the heavy version. It serves a great purpose anti-armor/back field objective theft. I would be interested in seeing how to magnetize the kit.

  3. Agree with you on the models looks. It is much better in person then it is in photos. I actually quite like it now that I've seen it in in action.

Yours has come along quite nicely. As to which one to do next, I'd play test either of them, then come to a decision. I'm guessing its going to be the transport variant though. Easier to fit into lists.

  4. I'm certainly leaning towards another Stormwolf, for the exact reasons stated, they are just easier to fit in a list and have just as good firepower in my opinion.

  5. It's prett easy to magnetize. There is a tutorial on bolter and chainsword which I used and it works great.Your paint job is looking good! I'm painting mine up now.

  6. Holy cow, I didn't know you had a blog. Linked.

Nice looking flyer you have there. I cannot get over it though. It still looks ridiculous to me.
