DZC - Scourge Desolator

Howdy folks. Thought I would show you the Desolator for my Sourge force in Dropzone Commander.

This guy is a floating menace. He is a commander option for a Scourge army and has a gun that can shoot a blast of lighting with a 6"-12" effect and is also an aircraft, which is a rarity in DZC. He has been a bit hit and miss for me (generally more of a miss tbh) but the model is one of the first things that drew me to the Scourge. I like the creeping menace of the model, with the tentacle legs and large crown at the top. Feels very alien.

The painting follows the lighter organic scheme I decided on instead of the more mechanical feel of the official paint jobs. Using the washes was alot of fun on this one, and I am especially pleased with the red underside to the legs. Overall a blast to paint, and is a nice centre piece to the army. Now onto the pics!

Onto other news, I have gloss varnished my raider crew and am just waiting for a more clement day to dullcoat them. Soon I hope! I have also been attempting to cast a few bits and bobs for my heresy project, but thats a post for another day :)

NafNaf out!

  1. I've said it before, but I really like the way you use tints to break up the areas of these Scourge. They look great!

    1. Thanks Jeff. Glad you like them :) It has been a different way to paint for me but really refreshing, and I have learnt alot from it.

    2. I'm with Jeff. The layering of colors and blending just looks great. It's an area I really need to work on.

  2. Great scheme, I'm doing the same with my Scourge though I've stalled recently due to work issues.

The Pezzapoo tutorials for this scheme on youtube are excellent (https://youtu.be/48gWHIfRJ-w?list=PLzFq5YddtqZvw0CmlewQ-lNQ_0kZSqtia) and it's great to see WIPs from you using these techniques as it's inspired me to start my Scourge up again, so thanks!
