Yes that's right folks, I have managed to get a small bit of painting time in and start on Bjorn the Fell handed for my Dreadtober vow.
There is not much to show but I want to post up my progress and keep myself motivated to finish on time (hopefully early as I have a stormwolf I need to paint for blog wars in November). The model has been primed and given a basecoat of boltgun metal, and I have applied two washes, One black, the other brown. The base has also been drybrushed and washed and all that is needed is the snow once the model has been finished. I plan on blocking in the brown for the fur and boat this week, and hopefully get them all highlighted so I can get cracking on the gold.
I am also working on a little surprise project for dreadtober that I hope to reveal some progress soon. I have been having a blast working on it so I am pretty excited to get what I have achieved so far posted up.
Catch ya all soon
NafNaf out!
I am already in love with the model!!!! Your attention to detail and base design gets better and better all the time!
ReplyDeleteThanks Greg. I am quite excited to get him finished as I am pretty chuffed with how he looks so far with just the washes on. Once the details are painted he should be a nice centre piece HQ for my army
DeleteSexy business! I hope that dreadtober-update-painting-begins.html encourages you to get it done. Not exactly a dread, but I'm hoping to paint the Cronos as my dreadtober contribution.
ReplyDeletePraytell, what is blog wars?
I hope so too. Time is at a premium at the moment but I am determined to get him finished for the deadline, as well as my secret project :)
DeleteBlog wars is a friendly tournament run by Alex over at 'from the fang' blog. It started as just a bloggers tournament but has expanded to allow all comers (I actually started going before I had a blog). It is a pretty friendly and relaxed tourney, with a lot of the filth disallowed and fluffier lists encouraged
Great looking model and conversion!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteAwesome looking stuff as always mate. Makes me hang my head in shame at my bog standard dread (though in fairness I didn't build it, it was a swap for some other stuff with a guy from club)
ReplyDeleteCheers Nick :)
DeleteYou shouldn't be ashamed of your dread, it will look awesome when done :)
You know, I was about to ask how you did the metal and then read it. I wouldn't have thought to do a brown wash after a black one but I really, really like the look it gives. Great work so far.
ReplyDeleteCheers Thor :)
DeleteIt has another brown wash to go yet but I paint all the Fur, bone and gold and then wash them all together for the final shade.
Very excited. Get cracking. Call in sick if you have to.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! :D I will put my foot on the pedal and crack on
DeleteNice work! .. it's looking awesome so far..
ReplyDeleteThanks Todd. I have a lot to do yet but I am pleased with the first steps and am pretty fired up to get the rest of him done
DeleteI've been looking forward to this painting since you built it! The runes in particular are super impressive, especially with your layered method. Inspiration stuff dude :)
ReplyDeleteThanks dude :)
DeleteI was a bit concerned the painting would obliterate the runes but luckily they are showing through ok
