Dark Eldar Carnival Venom Gunner finished

What! Hobby! Never! Yes...yes it is true I have managed to pull my finger out and complete a model. Only taken me a month and a half :D.

Anyway this chappie is required for my venom ready for double trouble, as it looks a little silly without a gunner on the top. Unfortunately I have not been able to finish the other two, but it atill looks fine so I am happy enough to bring it with me

I matched the colour of his hat and cloak to the pattern on the front of the venom to tie in the colours of the vehicle with the rider. The legs I kept plain back as it was unnecessary to have patterns or colour of them as they are mostly hidden when he is mounted behind the gun. Pretty happy with him and the colours are nice. I am especially chuffed with the blue closk. It has turned out very lush after I applied a blue glaze over the top, and the highlights pop quite nicely.

Here are the other two. I have chosen and apllied the base colours for the one but still have the tidying up and all the highlights to apply, plus alot more :). The other chap I have yet to decide on a colour scheme. I am pretty sure I will be doing his trousers (pants for you Yanks) with black and white stripes. Apart from that I will just make it up as I go as usual.

I will post up my Double Trouble list later this week. I am looking forward to the event, and am excited to get my carnival fully painted onto the tabletop (although my list is not competitive in any way and will no doubt be crushed ignominiously, but that is a post for another day :)

  1. That guy is styling with his top hat and cloak. Great work as always.

  2. Argh! Those are beautiful - your carnival was the impetus behind the Harlequin side project of mine but I despair of them looking remotely as cool as yours. I will definitely be blatantly stealing, er, making an homage to some of your decorative stylings! Good stuff, man!

I am casting a top hat for Joe B, would you like one to add to your harlie force somewhere? No probs in me casting an extra few for you

    1. Cheers dude. Yeah I oove me some top hats too. There is just something so undeniably British and wacky about them.

  5. Oh man, they are just fantastic! I really love the base of the Venom too, its detailed but doesn't distract from the model (how could it!?) The autumn leaves really catch my attention. I have been meaning to use them for something, I just haven't found the right project yet ;-)

    1. Thanks Marc. I really enjoy doing bases, and the ones for this army are particularly a pleasure. I am pleased they do not distract from the model. My aim was for them to be interesting yet subtle in their colours. The leaves and grass help a lot with this. They both have been a great buy

  7. Great work on finishing him! That blue is fantastic, though the top hat on seems even more impractical seeing he is cruising on a flying skiff. Though it does make him a bit of a bad ass for it :-)

    1. I am sure they have some super Velcro in the rim to hold it in his head when it accelerates :D
